Defender Dash
I finally got around to installing my latest revision of my defender dashboard in my Puma 2.2

Here's a short youtube showing the install.

It's been covered on a couple of other threads about the Stinger Heigh10 and an Arduino Microcontroller.

It currently has the following features :

Clock
GPS Speed
GPS Position
Compass
Pitch and Roll
Temperatures (In and Out)
Type pressures (From internal or valve mounted sensors)
Parking Sensors (From wired bumper sensors)
Engine Data (Various OBD data)

I'm also working on a couple of new screens and some enhanced features.

Once I have done a bit of testing, I'll review whether I can offer it to others to install. This is the third revision so I'm fairly confident it is fairly robust. Any comments and suggestions welcome.

It looks like a very useful and nicely executed piece of kit. Looking forward to watching you develop it.

Thanks.

I've been working on a couple of new screens that are taking a bit longer than expect.

I'm just about to rebuild a version that has one central box for installation. That will mean I can potentially provide it to others to test out.

I'm also going to build various screen options :

1 - external display (what you see in the video)
2 - output to HDMI or AV to display on a double din head unit
3 - Replace one of the instrument cluster dials. I have a second cluster to try this.
4 - A 52mm gauge to replace the clock on the Puma or the clock in the instrument cluster on the TD5

I am planning on creating a few units for others to test out. I have a good plan to build the electronics into a central box to install in the cubby box or behind the dash. It can be configured to limit the electronics and screens to a particular feature set. Base features, Base + TPMS, Base + Parking, Base + Thermal, Base + TPMS/Parking/Thermal. I'm going to stop adding features now and aim to get it into a good state to provide a few units to others.

If you send me a PM I'll contact you when I think it's ready to try. I'll keep creating youtubes to track progress.

Looking good! Cool You have obviously had more time to develop your gauge than I have for working on mine.

I have a little round display that replaces the analogue clock. I have most of it working on the bench, just have to design a mount bracket for 3D printing.

Looks like a really well developed product, I’d be happy to test one out on a TD5 if you need it! I agree with others, think it would replace the clock in a classic defender dash really well.

Quick update on the dashboard. I'm getting the main electronics board custom built so it all fits in a single unit that can do installed behind the dash.

I've also started work on the extra display that can be used in the TD5 52mm clock or can replace the Puma clock. Some images below. The images look much better in real life. You can't see the detail on the defender image in these ones. The display is really sharp and detailed like a smart watch.

That looks pretty nice!

Do the controls at the front just become redundant or will they be used to control anything?

It would be nice to have the clock or clock/temp display as the default and then push a button to cycle through others.

Hello

I like this, I have an Ultra guage on mine and have had this for years, I love the fact the front screen I can have MPH, Revs , engine temp etc.. Its far better to read than the clocks...

I also have the night vision on another car I use, it make me smile when I drive and switch that on at night as it put's box's round people and animals almost like target practice Smile

The round screen you have, what runs the system, is their another box of tricks?

Looks great, I didn't see it so maybe you have could you have a splash screen of the LR logo when you switch on?

Also where you have mounted it near the clock, could you replecate an analague clock face so it looks std if you want Smile

If so did sell the kit what do you think it would cost?

Great work Thumbs Up

Those are push buttons that can be used for anything. I was planning to program one to cycle the screens and the other for in screen control; average speed reset, psi/bar etc.
