What to use on Mud flaps
Anyone have any ideas what is the best product to use on the mud flaps ? I know they are never going to stay clean but is there a spray or polish i can use ? I did use the tyre shine stuff but just doesnt seem to work. Thanks James

In the USA car detailing is huge.
When I was there this was recommended to me.
I use in on tyres and all black rubberised plastic.
It’s great 👍

On the rubber mudflaps on my classic Defender 110 I first spray and scrub with Meguiars APC , 1 part apc 4 parts water. Then rinse.
Then use good old car plan black trim wax applied with a sponge. Keeps them black all summer Very Happy

Ps. Use rubber gloves when applying as it’s hard to get off your skin Sad

Meguiars ultimate black

In normal circumstances I just use a combined wash and wax, might not be all slick shiny but UV protection is more important. ____\We|Will|Win/___

Auto Glym tyre dressing spray for me. Keeps them nice and black/shiny for a month or so.

Well yes. Before the Autoglym Laughing

There are lots of products on the market that claim to restore black plastics and rubbers. I’m not sure any of them actually ‘restore’ either material in truth.

The biggest problem in this weather is dust as they all to some extent leave a product residue stuck to said plastic and rubber which ends up getting dust stuck to it.

Then back to jst’s pressure washer

Many trim products melt the top layer of plastic, especially tyre dressings. When you wipe over, you are removing the oxidated layer and the product should set or evaporate, so shouldn't attract dust but the oxidation process starts again and the material will go brown or dull again.
Back to black tends not to melt anything but it will leave an oily residue (which is why it shouldn't be used on pedals etc.) which does attract dust. It's the same as that olive oil "hack", but doesn't leave organic material everywhere.

In short, pressure washer. One life - get one.
