Idle speed D250
To anybody with a D250 what RPM does yours idle at?

l am sure mine has gone up, it's now just under 750 rpm and l am sure it was nearer 650rpm before.

I’ve found in mine it depends on the state of the battery and when it’s doing a refresh of the diesel particulate filter. Noticed it tends to idle at a slightly higher rpm if I’ve done several short journeys, suspect that’s related to charging the battery.

Today I noticed mine idling a little higher/louder than usual at a traffic light..
Coincidence - or was there a recent OTA update?

Could be a DPF regeneration taking place?

I have a D250.

It's hard to be absolutely exact but I would say idle is around 625rpm. Halfway between the 500 and 750 marker on the digital dial.

This is with stop/start activated so obviously no regeneration or similar taking place. I bought the car new just over a year ago and it hasn't changed at all.

If it helps, regeneration is just under 1000rpm iirc

Services (aircon etc) will push the revs up a bit.

Yes mine was always there but it's risen to around 700rpm
l don't suppose it really matters, that the idle speed has risen by 60rpm, but l did notice the change.

That's with nothing turned on and the stop/start turned off. Although turning things on makes no difference.

l wonder if the battery is deteriorating. l've read that some people have needed a battery replacement after as little as two years.

Mine's a D300. With summer in Tokyo my idle speed in Drive has gone up by ~100rpm from 650 to 750rpm
In Park it rises to 950 rpm.
Outside temp indicated at 37 degrees on the dash. Aircon set to 22 degrees.
Coming up to my 4th year. At my 3rd year service they told me to replace the battery next year but no starting nor electrical issues (yet....) 22MY Defender 110 D300 S in Pangea Green and Contrast White Roof
