Constantly bleeding brakes
Hi guys

Bled my brakes a few times now and got them working great.
Defender sits in the garage a week and they need bleeding again. Pedal goes straight to the floor.
No fluid leaking, but obviously air is getting into the system some how

Any ideas how to solve please ?

Thanks

A friend had the same issue. He replaced the master cylinder (or its seals). Puma 110" SW

When you say air is getting in is that because your seeing it come out when you bleed them or is it an assumption.

If you have air coming out then is it at all.four corners?

If no air but they improve with pedal pumping then possible mc. Cheers

I had a metal brake that ran along the back axle on my old 90 - it had partially chaffed through and was porous but not enough drip fluid

Yeah I’m getting air bubbles on the front brakes every time I bleed them.
The back brakes no bubbles.

Thanks for replies so far,

Kev

Mostly the front right, furthest from the master cylinder

I'd check union's on copper pipe and flexi, if problem persists replace copper pipe. Cheers

I checked everything I can reach, no signs of leaking on the pipes, unions or hoses.
I will bleed again and hope it lasts a while.
I am surprised air is getting in but I can’t see any fluid leaks or reservoir level going down.

How are you bleeding it? Vacuum?

Leaving pressure bleeder on it overnight is a good way of highlighting failure points.

Air is either not all coming out or its getting in. Cheers

Is it an ABS vehicle?

All the pump and fittings look ok?

Yes it’s abs, I managed to turn one of the fittings on the abs unit a little bit.
But there was no signs of leakage around the fittings.
Going to bleed all brakes tomorrow and see how long it lasts.

Any signs of any leaks around the PRV? (If fitted?). _\Hennessey|Venom| F5/___

Can’t see any leaks anywhere, not from the brakes anyway 😀
I just bled them again, loads of air from front right caliper.
Brake pedal is solid now, going camping tomorrow so I will see how brakes perform.

Try clamping flex pipe to that one calliper and see if air coming in that corner
