What oil are you using? Do you buy it from the LR dealer along with the filters?

Millers Oils XF Premium C2 ECO 0w30 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil 20 Litres Can 130pounds shipped.
OEM oil filter. Oil change every 6k miles or just before going to Europe and back. And always before winter to have fresh oil for the cold mornings.
Don’t know the relation, I have not refilled any ad blue at 20k miles now and the cdb still show 6k miles left before refilling ad blue.

A bit late to the party, but I've owned 3 Defenders, all with different engines (P400, P525, D300), and had a great experience. Would recommend.

It looks like I'll go with the MY26 Defender 110 HSE. For those who have tried both (and I get it's personal taste as well), which engine package do we prefer - D350 or Hybrid (P400e?)

I expect to keep it for 5-10 years and cover it with extended warranty as far as possible. We have solar panels and batteries, so we can charge a PHEV at a low cost overnight or for free during the day. Having said that the higher starting price negates some of that advantage.

Drive around 5k miles these days, mostly local in the country but with a handful of 300miles+ trips a year.

Any thoughts oh oracles of all things Defender? Smile

Hybrid plug in if you go through your company and pay BIK. And if the car is a hire for 3 years .
For a long term love it will cost overall less going with the diesel. Cheaper to buy and maintain. Batteries on the plug in get only 60k miles or 6 years warranty. Replacing the battery will cost 20k… in addition to this you’ll have all the go wrong mechanical of the petrol engine… diesel still a winner imho for long term affair.

It's my own car so not too worried about tax. My Disco 4 I've kept for 11 years, although the changes for ICE on the horizon make me wonder if Hybrid is the way to go, or perhaps just stick with D350 (Mild Hybrid I think) and then think of changing cars again in 5 years once the landscape becomes clearer. That would also help with the reliability/warranty questions I guess.

Thanks, folks - I get I'm thinking out loud here a bit, but all your advice has been invaluable. It's a lot of money to discover 6 months later that I made the wrong choice! Smile

With the hybrid you'll get about 25miles on battery, then you'll only have a P300 to lug the car and heavy battery about so fuel consumption on long journey isn't going to be great.

Sounds like my initial gut feel to go D350 is the right option for the next few years then Smile

I think, like the Range Rover, the plugin hybrid have been designed around tax and fleet sales.
Which is not encouraging in terms of engineering… they just need to last 3 years with no warranty claims… and survive a bit more in case the extended warranty is bought…
I would not touch one for long term. We already know the battery pack will fail for sure, we
Just don’t know when, after 6 year? 7?8? And you cannot run the car just with petrol, the battery pack charges the 12v battery as well and more.
Run the 3 liter petrol on motorway and you’ll see low 20s all the time… not for me… it’s already poor ( but acceptable for the size) 30mpg average on motorway with an overall personal mpg over 20k miles of 27.5mpg ( although in the summer with roof tent, roof rack and trailer…)
