I was told mine may need doing at the last MOT,

Its rotting on the inside they did include pictures to show,

From memory they said about £1K, parts around £250 / £300

Drop the tank etc and cut the old one out, weld in new one.

I have asked if anything else worth changing while it is accessable.

Mines a 2009 and fairly well looked after.....so 16 years old. Getting on a bit now Very Happy

Scotland 2010 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 CSW Keswick Green
seems about right.
hourly rate x 10, plus new crossmember, plus any extras.
I was pretty naive to think it would be a cheap fix.

@Lightning - why do I think it needs a new chassis?
It may well not need one and probably doesn't right now but, unfortunately, conditions here aren't kind to an un-galvanised chassis - I live near the sea, in Scotland, with salty roads and plenty rain.
I'd like to future-proof it as much as possible - I don't plan on selling it.
Peace of mind - they rust from the inside out and while it looks fairly sound on the outside I can't be 100% what it's like on the inside.
Anyway, prices are roughly 10x the cost of replacing the crossmember so that option's out of the question right now Laughing

I just don't have the skills, space, time or tools to do it myself otherwise I'd give it a go. Cheers,
Andy...
