ScanGauge II Oil Temperature
Hello,

I installed a ScanGauge II in my 2.2 Defender and activated Motor Oil Temperature.

Has anyone possibly checked the readings from the ScanGauge II to a seperate installed sensor?

I get up to 130 Degrees Celsius Oil Temp at 120 Km/h on the Highway.

Maybe someone of you has an answer for me.

Cheers

Tobias

I'm trying to remember what my oil temp runs at in my 2.2...
I think it runs about 104 deg C on average when its cruising in 6th...
The coolant will be around 94 deg C...
That's ball park and can vary a bit with load..
There is a limit to the power output if the oil temp or fuel temp reach certain values but I can't remember what they might be... 140 for the oil seems to ring a bell, but can't be sure..

Hi Andy63,

thank you for your answers. So it seems my one is running a bit hot.

I am not sure if there is a real sensor or the ScanGauge is calculating something, but with your answers there is a sensor somewhere.

Cheers

I think its a combined oil level and temp sensor.. located close to where the turbo oil return goes back into the sump..
It seems high on the face of it, but so much is dependant on load and your cooling system temp..
And the temp of 140 I mentioned is from memory and may have been related to the max temp that the normal oils are suited to run at..
I'll have a look at my ws manual and see if its got anything..
