Problems with the heated steering wheel
Hello guys, I drive a P400 Defender, built in 2020. The steering wheel heating recently stopped working. The switch on the steering wheel can be switched on and off normally and lights up, but the steering wheel no longer warms up properly. Big Cry

I'm afraid there's a problem with the heating wires...

Do you perhaps have an idea?

Greetings, Hazelhunter

I'm pretty sure some other people have had an issue like this, and their heater for the wheel had just worn out and failed. Do your heated seats work?

l've heard of a few heated steering wheels failing. ln fact there was one at my local LR specialist when l was there last week, that they were trying to diagnose.

They said steering wheel is £2,400. l hope this is not correct. Although it's not the end of the world if it doesn't heat up, never had a heated steering wheel on my old Defender (or any previous car l've owned)

Oh dear, that would be really bad news. A professional can definitely get this done cheaper, I hope.

Thank you for your message !

I noticed my heated steering wheel seems to have started failing. It only heats the rear section of the wheel where your fingers are. The section facing the driver where your palms are is cold.

Did you find out if this was a defect, or if it should be like this?
I have recently noticed the same problem om my Defender 2021, and I'm quite sure it hasn't been like this before. My dealer says the models from 2020-2022 (or so) only heats the rear section of the wheel. Only 2023/2024 and later heats both sides???

@Tanndoktorn

Your dealer's statement is 100% false! The entire steering wheel on my 2020 Defender was getting warm, front and back. My steering wheel heater has also been broken for a year, and now only the rear part gets warm.

It would be nice if anyone with a '20, '21-model can tell me that both sides on their steering wheel gets warm. If I can give my dealer an example that goes against his saying, it would be easier to insist he should fix it on warranty (We have 5 years warranty here in Norway). He tells me he has tested several cars in his workshop, and only models from '23 and newer heats both sides of the steering wheel.

The whole steering wheel circle gets warm on my car too. The point is that just the inner part, the part facing the dash/my finger tips gets warm, not the part in contact with my palms ..
Can anyone confirm this is how it is on their '20/'21-model too?
