Hole in Timing Cover
Hi all

Had my timing belts done this week and the garage pointed out that it appears I’ve had a hole drilled in the case

I’ve had a look at new units and they are ‘hole less’

Any idea what this may be for and whether I should plug it for off roading?

We imagined it could be for checking the belt?

Thanks

Looks like an inspection hole to me too, which makes sense in early days of the 300tdi.

Maybe fit a rubber grommet. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing
