Creaking/cracking sound solved!

My Defender made an annoying creaking or cracking sound from the front when l was manoeuvring at slow speeds, such as reversing on to a driveway.

l tried various things including the rubber seals and door hinges but the noise remained.

At the weekend l removed the two under trays and used a spray grease on all the contact points/bolts etc, and then refitted them.

And the noises have gone! The vehicle is completely silent and free from creaks.

There was a cracking noise as l loosened some of the bolts securing the under trays. And a little bit of aluminium oxidation at the mounting points.
