United Kingdom 2007 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 DCPU Stornoway Grey
[SOLD] 2002 TD5 Disco 2
This has now sold.

I have reluctantly decided that I need to reduce the number of vehicles I own and therefore the time has come to sell my Disco2. I know that sometimes there is interest in Discos from the forum, so a listing here seemed a good place to start.

It is a TD5 Discovery II GS5 (5-seater) with manual gearbox, on coil springs, with ABS, TC, HDC, ACE and twin manual sunroofs. I bought it new in 2002 and it is a one-owner-from-new vehicle. It has done around 210k miles and is MoT'd until November. It is one of the last pre-facelift vehicles (which means that front-end parts are much cheaper if needed) and is probably the last Disco2 to have a genuine "Gulf-spec" front bumper and air-dam instead of the standard bulldozer blade (I was told when I bought it that the Gulf-spec bumper was the last one in the UK and no more were to be made).

Good points:
TD5 15P engine which runs sweetly, de-webbed exhaust manifold on Wurth studs, EGR deleted, currently fitted with a PSI Powerbox (which is actually very effective whatever the nay-sayers may say).
    Recent new injector seals.
Fully-functional CDL with Disco I linkage.
Inside the car the seats have always had waterproof covers fitted and are immaculate, all three interior lights have been upgraded to Mudstuff LED units, and the original Harman Kardon ICE has been upgraded to a Pioneer single-DIN flip screen unit (the original HK is available provided I can find it).
Genuine adjustable towbar and 7-pin towing socket.
Virtually unused 265/75x16 BFG KM3 KM2 [correction] tyres (spare is unused), D44 spare wheel carrier to allow the larger tyres to be carried.
Sunroof drains are in good condition and as far as I can tell the sunroofs do not leak.
    Genuine Gulf-spec front bumper.
Full-length roof rails with two sets of genuine removable cross-bars.

Bad points:
The headlining has started to sag, as they all do eventually. I have the headlining material to repair this but haven't had time to sort it out. The new material will be included in the sale.
The rear chassis has surface rust but appears structurally sound and didn't cause the MoT tester any concerns, however cleaning and painting would be a good idea.
At the last MoT (November 2024) there was an advisory for perished rubber gaiters on the rear axle anti-roll-bar drop links. I have replacement drop links but haven't had time to fit them yet, they will be included in the sale.
The exterior of the vehicle is in a condition commensurate with a 25-year-old car, so the paint has various minor chips and blemishes, and the black plastic trim panels have some UV surface discolouring and damage.
It has no service history since I have maintained it myself since the warranty expired in 2005.

I have always loved this car, it is a real pleasure to drive, and it has served me well. I really don't want to see it go, however I have too many vehicles and this is the one I now use least.

I am asking just £2000 for it which I think is a bargain (the tyres alone are probably worth half that) but I am happy to have a conversation on price with any interested party. The insurance is due very soon and I would like to sell it before I have to renew, and the price reflects my desire for a quick sale to avoid forking out yet more money for insurance.

I can upload more photos after the weekend if requested, but the photo below is recent and give a good idea of the state of the vehicle.

Looks great and must be bit of a wrench selling it as you have been lucky enough to have owned it from new.

I keep looking at these and seriously would like another one day before they become too hard to find, but would mean selling my Defender Sad

Good luck with the sale though Smile 2004 Defender 90 Td5 CSW

That’s a lot of Land Rover for the money Blackwolf. I appreciate it’s a ‘need’ rather than ‘want’ decision which are always harder.

If I had the space (and a more understanding wife) I’d probably have had that off you as we all know it will be well maintained by you.

Good luck with the sale - it’s going to be a bargain for someone 👍

Yes, it is a wrench and I am still not sure it is the right thing to do! Big Cry

My original plan was to keep it (which I'd still do if I had the space) since I reckon that it has the potential in the future to be a classic. But needs must, retirement approaches, space is limited and a new acquisition means that something has to go. At least through the forum I am confident it will sell to a good person who will appreciate what they are getting.

I don't suppose that there are many one-owner-from-new D2s left now.

It's a plug in performance booster. Not as capable as a conventional remap but easier to fit and completely removable. There are various gadgets which can do this but PSI are generally considered to be the best.

As the new owner I feel incredibly fortunate to have been the first in the queue. It is fantastic, the body is corrosion free. A little elbow grease and paint on the chassis & it too will be tiptop. Having taken it on a long drive today, it is an enjoyable blast from the past driving a D2 again with perfectly functioning ACE.

Also treated her to a quick trip to the local car wash to freshen up.
