Side facing seats are no longer legal in private passenger vehicles made after 2006, I'm afraid, which is what prompted the change in Land Rovers. Your insurers would almost certainly disown you in the event of an accident.

are you fitting them to a td5 or earlier 110 ? you might get away with it on them but they were never standard on pumas

Yes it was in a puma I was referring too.

.. having said that, I've been in a puma at the land rover factory, it had 3 rows of seats plus 4 side facing ... it had 3 doors each side and a rear door and was a puma

The Defender stretched tour vehicles were not road legal though and were limited to 20 or 25 MPH!

Mines a Puma 90 and bought it from dealers used with side facing seats.

Is it a van conversion? AFAIK, all Puma station wagons only came from the factory with forward facing seats. Darren

Yes, it is with side windows put in too all ready fitted when I bought it. Mines under commercial road tax of which the SW isn't. So my guess would be that changing forward facing seats in a SW to sideways wouldn't be legal seeing as it's fairly obvious it's a lower safety standard with the sideways seats with just lap belts than the forward facing with 3-point belts. |
