Facebook marketplace scam
You may be familiar with this already I dont know but Im selling a Transit custom crew van on Marketplace rather then part exing it. Its a £7500 van, great runner etc but nothing valuable or special. I had two different people message me within minutes of posting asking me all the usual questions etc. They one asked me to send a VT report which is like a check thing (think HPI or Car Vertical) so I said i didnt have one. He kindly sent me the link which I ignored, Then the other guy did the same thing so its clear by now they are scammers lying to people but working on behalf of this company (Vehicle Test UK) to get you to do these tests. Ive no problem with people canvassing etc, that always happens when u try and sell a car but this is outright lies on behalf of a company! Facebook really is the pits when it comes to car selling, I know, its my own fault but then ebay is not much better these days.

Scammers thrive on Facebook market. They are getting also more and more sofisticate and some are real pro. It’s hard to understand who is a genuine buyer.
In your case it looks more like a phishing scam. Good luck with the sale of your van!

l saw one of those "scams exposed" programme on TV where a motor home had been advertised for a very good price on FB marketplace and there were a steady stream of "buyers" arriving at a random address having paid their £2,000 deposit.

The owners of the property had no knowledge of any motorhome. Shockingly the motorhome was still on FB Marketplace and it took days to get it taken down, by which time more people had "reserved" it and turned up at the property to collect their new motorhome.

Nobody likes being scammed, obviously—but honestly, some people are practically begging for it. All these geniuses thinking they’ve struck gold buying a £30k motorhome for a tenner. Right, mate, bargain of the century!
