Generally this is caused by the different way that Android based systems manage filestore. Playback on most Android devices (and as far as I know all modern car systems are thus) follows the sequence of files as written on the device, rather than following an index in a FAT-like structure on the disc.
You may be able to create a playlist with them in the order you want and play the playlist, but this would require that the "Infotainment" system supported playlists such as m3u formats, most don't seem to. Alternatively you may find that if you copy the audiobooks to the USB device one-at-a-time in the order you want them to play this does what you want. This is a problem which has bugged me for years on many car audio systems - I like to listen to classical music and the order the track play matters, a lot! it can be very difficult and time-consuming to get the result you want. |

Thanks for the answer!
It has always worked perfectly in my VW bus. Apart from this small problem, I don't miss the bus at all ![]() |

There are no end of mp3 file joiners available online:
https://duckduckgo.com/?t=ffab&q=join+...amp;ia=web I'm sure there are some for offline use if (like me), your broadband isn't up to uploading them all. |

There are tools to change the creation date on the stick. I used one for an old Boom Box with SD card and the same issue - playback was sorted by the datetime of file creation.
For MacOS/Linux you can try fatsort https://fatsort.sourceforge.io/ Should be much quicker than joining mp3s and you still can skip thru tracks. |

A quick Google reveals that similar utilities exist for Windows-based systems. I've just downloaded one to try and will post the results here if it works.

Hello!
I have tried this program: https://fat-sorter.software.informer.com/download/?lang=de And it looks very good! It has sorted 300 MP3 files perfectly. No more errors in the order when playing! I'll keep an eye on it and report immediately if there are any errors. |
