D350 Engine “smoothness”
Weird one - my 130 D350 seems to have two personalities...

Under acceleration it sometimes runs very smoothly, similar or even better than 6cyl BMWs that I’ve owned. However at other times it sounds like a classic rattle-y diesel, just like the 4cyl 2.8 that’s in my Hilux. I also might be imagining this, but when it’s sounding ‘rough’ I feel like it’s slightly less responsive and even possibly down on power (hard to gauge though). I can’t find any commonality in when it does/doesn't do it.

Anyone with similar experiences or thoughts? I would take it in to the dealer, but they’re absolutely useless and won’t accept anything is an issue without there being a warning light on Banging Head Banging Head

Edit: learning to spell

Mine is a bit less smooth when it's doing a DPF regeneration

That’s not to be expected! The 6 inline is always smooth. Under heavy stress might sound a little more vocal but never like the rattle of the Hilux ( even more pronounced on the new Land Cruiser!!!).

l can tell when my D250 is doing a DPF regeneration because there's a background rumble/slightly different engine sound a bit like tyre noise
