Aluminium is more susceptible to cracking. Also more expensive and whats wrong with the original design, I believe you can still buy replacements no?

Yes replacements are still readily available but I just wanted to know if there was an option that could have even more longevity in it by material choice. I know some fabricators produce stainless steelvv no tanks too but mostly for marine based applications

They used to be available in other materials. I bought a stainless underseat tank for my old 90 about 20 years ago.

One time purchase though ! Fit and forget. I'm not sure I'd want an aluminium tank given its exposed position to road muck and salt and the fact that it'll be bolted to a steel chassis no matter how well you'd try to isolate it. The most cost effective solution is to change to a TD5 / Puma plastic rear tank with a rear filler from YRM. That'll last forever and you'll get a 20l capacity boost to boot.
