Adblue filling limit
The dealership told me when I bought my 130 defender that the ad blue should not be filled to the top and I should leave 1L less than what the car was calling for, because it caused an issue which was very expensive to put right.
Is this true?
Sounds like a salesman has misheard or misunderstood an instruction to me.
Can anyone confirm or deny this?

l've not heard or read anything to this effect.

But to be on the safe side just do what he said. My D250 uses so little Adblue that l will probably only have to fill it twice in five years of use.

Currently l am on 11,700 miles and it's still saying there's 6,000 miles before it needs refilling.

I bought my 8 month old 130 with 9650 miles on the clock and it says it’ll take 2 gallons (9lts) so I wonder if it was ever filled up.

With Wifey's Velar i wait until the Remote app says that it needs 11 litres. I then buy a 10 litre bottle from Halfords or Amazon (depends which is cheaper at the time) and put it straight in.

No need to measure, use the lot.

On her previous D Sport with the service package Adblue top ups were free, however it was a pain because it was time out of our day plus a half hour wait for something that i can do on my driveway in five minutes.

They did say at the time that their fancy machine measures the exact amount and stops over filling, but if you do what i do its no issue.

If i remember correctly they were charging £36 at the time outside of a service contract. Add in your personal time and it just makes sense to do it yourself.

Check the capacity! If its more than say 12l…

Then wait for the first warning, put 10l in, simples

Just remember it takes up to 40 miles or so for it to register and the warning to go!

I have indeed refilled my own ad blue on my FFRR on many occasions, but I’ve always filled it to the top without incident. The question I was asking was is anyone aware of overfilling causing a problem on the defender L663? I use a pump to fill my ad blue tank and it’s an easy job to find a container and measure out the literage I need less 1L. I wanted to know if anyone else had been told the same. 24MY 130 X-Dynamic HSE Santorini Black

Will any Adblue be okay or is there a specific one that we are supposed to use?

Any Adblue is fine.

In 26000 miles I've added 10 litres, although I think LR added some when it was serviced. Eiger Grey MY23 D250 SE with bits. Known as Noddy.
