ATRIC - HELP!!!
I can't even get the software to install Big Cry
Here's the story. I am a Mac man but I have a small IBM ThinkPad to do my dirtywork (which it does quite well). It has no internet access so it's virus-free.

So, my ATRIC arrived and I downloaded the Console.zip software (version 3.9) onto my Mac and transferred it to the ThinkPad where I unzipped it and tried to install it - it all goes ahead EXCEPT at the very end it finishes with the message "application failed to initialise" and a number. Restarts etc. don't help. Called Gary and we agreed that perhaps it was an OS problem SO I upgraded from XP SP2 in German to a brand new install XP SP3 in English... but it still has the same error

Please (beg) can anyone shed some light on this? I am desperate to get the ATRIC running!
Does anyone have a Console software version earlier than 3.9?
Anything???

Yours desperately,

Surely if I use version 3.72 consistently from the beginning onwards (as others have done?) there shouldn't be a problem?
Cheers

Question Confused

How is the software for the XConsole not going to be compatible with the remap file? The Xconsole is the interface unit and the software is for the PC, not the EMS. All we are talking about here is getting the remap interface software installed onto a PC with XP SP3 with an earlier version that is compatible. The new software is more likely to be x64 win vista, win 7 compatible, whereas the version I have is not.

Well... I tried your version on my "fresh" XP SP2 and it failed to initialise Sad so it is either the ThinkPad hardware (ridiculous) or it must be missing some software from later updates.
Am now looking for IBM network and/or wireless drivers using my Mac - God I hate PCs Evil or Very Mad Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

Well at least you know it is not a corrupted install file if both versions fail to initialise. All you can do now is update all your drivers and make sure windows is up to date with updates.

Why can't things so utterly basic such as networking just work out of the box.
I can't find any X32 network drivers - XP installs a ridiculously complicated yet crippled system - bleeeeahhh. Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

Hi ZeDefender,

I realise you want to persevere with the thinkpad, but....

Why not just use some virtualisation software on the Mac? Either Bootcamp, or Parallels etc?

Actually, I use something called WinOnX, which is cheap (you can get it from the app store on OsX), and when I just did a test on it with the BAS software (Which is just the same as the Atric software) it worked perfectly.

Thanks - yes, gave up with the ThinkPad when MS update told me it couldn't validate my (entirely legal and registered) version of XP... THEN it said it was "no longer available for purchase" and left me stuck on a page selling Windoze 7!!!

I am having one more try installing XP naked on an old Akoya - used as spares for our 3 "Hackbooks" (Akoya netbook PCs running Mac OS 10.5 perfectly Very Happy very proud to have been part of that work).

Checking out WinOnX now though Thumbs Up

Cheers,

Thanks! WinOnX runs the software...
BUT although the software now starts up, the link button says "device not found" (even though the ATRIC is plugged into the USB). I think on a PC it automatically installs drivers but on WinOnX it's not being recognised Sad

Finally sorted - got XP SP3 validated on my old ThinkPad and updated it to the point of absurdity.
Now it works (God knows what the software requirements are...)
Many thanks to all Thumbs Up
p.s. thanks again to Lorryman100 and szracer - that will be a really useful app (and gave me hope earlier) Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
