conservation during rebuild
Hi,
I have not found anything on the forum, hence my question.
I am rebuilding a defender but at a slow pace.
when I dismanteling gearbox, diff etc... I am conserving them wrapped in oil paper.
Buth how can I protect the parts I already rebuilt? e.g. the diff is reassembled but don't want to put oil in it yet as I still need to do the hubs etc... first.
Can I spray some oily solution, silicone oil, grafit oil spray? any ideas how to ensure they are not surface rusting after I mount it but do not fill in oil yet. Let's say it will be 6 months till I plan putting oil in.

Thx
Olivier

I sprayed mine with wd40, wrapped them in oily rags and stored inside (out of the damp) in a bucket/box whatever. As I built my 110 inside an insulated outbuilding, effectively indoors, I didn't have any problems with surface rust of the casings.
