1988 90 v8 3.5L - Electrics
So I’m slowly realising my new 90 v8 has some electrical fun to solve - I’ll be starting on sorting earths soon.

First question, it’s not starting great and I’m pretty sure I can’t hear the fuel pump on ignition which makes me wander if that’s an issue? It starts but cold can take 5-10+ seconds. I assume it should be priming but also wandered where it is as read on bulkhead but it’s not?

Secondly - in the attached photo what is the black box with the positive symbol on top?at the rear left where the main positive from the battery goes.

The black box is not a standard part, so it is difficult to say with certainty.

Given the big fat red cable going into it - my guess is this is someone's cunning plan to put a jump start terminal in the engine bay, to save having to dig under the seats to get to the battery.

If you unclip the 'lid' on it, is there a terminal under it? 2005 Td5 90 XS

Yeah I think you’re right! I did question maybe that’s what it is though weirdly I only remember one positive wire from that battery so I’ll explore at weekend and probably remove at same time.

Any thoughts on the fuel pump?

So that cable doesn’t go to the battery. The only live cable to the battery is far smaller but then got distracted by being unable to start the truck to where it goes. I’m assuming to the starter motor though by direction it goes!
