Can’t switch the alarm off

So I bought my defender (1998 early model TD5) over a year ago, and since then I never actually locked it or used the immobiliser.
For some reasons today I noticed that a red light appeared on the gauge board, which I assume must be the immobiliser / alarm.
I remember the seller telling me the car ECU was an upgrade unit and had the immobiliser disabled (which I was very happy about at the time).

Although I can start the car OK, the alarm goes off every time I open the driver’s door, and stops when I close it. For some weird reasons it doesn’t when I open any other door. I tried to play w the key fob to no avail (I just ordered new battery as I suspect the FOB battery died a long time ago).

Anyone knows how to disable the alarm manually/remove it all together? How can I tell if my FOB is working?

As you can see, my car was fitted with a button switch board. All the lights would usually go off when I take the key off the ignition, but I am now seeing that green light that stays on too… #confused !!

You’ll need to plug in a Nanocom to do what you are asking.

2002 Defender 110 Td5 DCPU Chawton White

Does anyone know if that red light on the odometer is standard on all (and can be made to work through the connection plug)? Wouldn't mind an in-yer-face red light for some custom alarm, like low coolant etc.

not realy the answer but ...

hi,
I did have problems during months with the alarm of my defender td4 2,2 from 2012.
This only because after change the battery I did not actuate the alarm 5 tmes to synchronise the system

mayby this can help one day

Yes it is common to all
