You are based where? It depends on what is available to you through regular channels.
You want a strong coat something like POR15 or a 2-pack system. These are typically gloss so depending on your preference you might want to give it a whiff of mat/satin black on top of your hard coating. Please note that typically any decent coating like that will have a short application window and cures in the pot and you prep and apply in one go. It is also important to recognize that this is only cosmetic really as the rust will form inside the frame in fact it will rot from the inside as there will be buildup of dirt. There are different opinions but personally I like to apply a coat of something like Fluid Film which is a (fairly) natural product that needs regular reapplying as it does wash off. Easy to apply with spray can application. |

I think I should add I had the vehicle wax oiled from day one and I’ve applied acf50 every 6 months on outside to hopefully slow down rust.

I've seen many Puma rear crossmembers which have done this, I am not convinced it is actually rust but it does look like it. I think it is some strange effect caused by whatever treatment was applied at the factory (which is odd because it only seem to happen to the rear face of the rear crossmember).
My 2007 110 did the same thing, and periodically (perhaps every 5 years or so) I clean the crossmember and repaint it usually with whatever I have to hand which is black. |

It looks to me that the paint used for the chassis has very poor UV resistance. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing
