New Defender L663 MOT time
OK, I have a a L663 first registered on 4th Sept 70 plate.

After trying to get a MOT booking over 3 weeks I was squeezed in for late afternoon yesterday.

My MOT man, Who I have used for over 25yrs, looked at the vehicle and said "haven't done one of these new Defenders yet"
Then after finding the vehicle data plate (lower offside B pillar) explained to me that this vehicle is a Class 7.
He is fully trained to conduct the test, but his workshop is only for Class 4 vehicles. Sad

Checked on the internet my vehicle is cauterised as a COMMERCIAL !! of which I also pay a LUXURY Band CarTax ... I think for the first 5/6 years since new.

So I have to find another MOT station, which I have been able to, to conduct the MOT test.

NOTHING IS SIMPLE WITH THIS VEHICLE !!!!!

The vehicle is a 110 5door with 5 seats ....... regular 'family car' ????

Yours is not a commercial. It should say M1 on the logbook. If it says N1 then it’s been registered incorrectly.

I agree.

Checked V5 and it states .... Vehicle Category M1

At the time, in the MOT station, I didn't have the V5

To be fair I had to put the Velar through an MOT, but only because the pandemic delayed the 90 Laughing 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue

I was hoping there may be a member who owns a First Edition 2019/20, 69 plate, which would have already needed a MOT.

The MOT is now booked in for tomorrow morning, then we will know if it's a Luxury Commercial ???? Laughing Laughing

Thanks for replies. Will post tomorrow.

This Class 7 thing comes up with classic 110s from time-to-time. The tester is incorrect - it should be tested as a car (Class 4).  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Only because the classic Defender 110 is a DPV and is therefore allowed to be tested as though it was a Class IV vehicle. The new Defender 110 is as far as I know too heavy to be a DPV so an N1 type approved new Defender 110 would correctly be Class VII. An M1 new Defender 110 would be Class IV.

Well this morning the MOT was conducted by a garage that can do BOTH M1 and N1, Class4 & Class7.

The answer was it IS a Class 4 ......... oh and it passed without advisories.
