Well that's a nice update. lt wouldn't be too hard to carry out this modification to an existing Defender.

It’s only taken them 2 years, might look at the boot floor for mine. The rear seats on the current 90 just pull up and unclip, takes 30 secs. Heated rear seats are a bit more of an issue. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue

I was in the local dealership last week and noticed the 75th 90 had a rag top, didn't look at the rear seats thou. Salesman has 10 to sell Rolling with laughter

As for Simons comment about the engineer getting the sack for designing the poor seat setup, I heard a comment not so long ago that engineers are revolting against the management who request the work be finished before the dept has completed the design. Saying "lets get it out into production, we can fix it properly later" !!!

Land Rover has always been know for releasing vehicles to customers way too early.

I can remember buying a new Discovery 2 in 1998, but it only came with 5 seats as the 6th/7th seats were not ready for launch date !!!

Each vehicle that comes off the line has 150 - 200 known faults (Avg) which if become a big enough problem, may be fixed later.

Maybe LR should subsidise the the sell price, of the list price, until problems are fixed. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

I think it is an ad-hoc solution for covering up an known design flaw.
Raising the floor in the rear.. less space left and you have to lift everything even higher. No Mud flaps for my 90.!

Do you think LR will rebadge the MY24 ......... SECOND ATTEMPT

They were so proud to use the badge FIRST EDITION on very early models.

The 90 works for me, had the 110 briefly, didn’t enjoy it the same. The greyhound even fits in the boot with the seats up.

Even IKEA trips, though I was mentally dividing up the box, as I was at the checkout, boot space, rear seat, footwell and had a bit left over as you do with flat pack furniture Laughing slid the front seat forward.

This is all amusing but if you were a car manufacturer, how would you improve on Land Rover.

Take a look at lneos for instance which is basically a new start-up car manufacturer. They clearly released the Grenadier too soon as all the issues weren't fixed.

But they were under a lot of pressure to get vehicles to customers, after some had put down deposits years earlier.

A lot of the time car manufacturers don't seem to make any profit, Land Rover posted huge losses around the time the new Defender was released.

l imagine they were under similar pressure to lneos. Although a profit was posted this year, Land Rover losses last year amounted to £800 million and their debt stands at £3 billion

While living it the US on the various vacations we rented a few 7 seater SUVs (fly and drive) your standard Tahoos, Escelades, Excursion behemoths.

Can't remember which one exactly but most had the rear seats fitted in a raised rear floor contraption. This is what I concluded then:

1. This is clearly a compromised solution. The car was designed for loadspace and now we want to seats there, unlike say a Discovery 4
2. The seats ain't great, which is not a problem for what they are
3. The elevated rear deck is not ideal, extra lift and less room
4. But most annoyingly they made the deck SLOPING meaning that EVERYTHING KEPT FALLING OUT OF IT.

If you have large family just get a van

Ford managed to install fold flat rear seats in the C-Max in 2011.

The disco 3 came out in 2004 and has a perfectly flat (not sloping) floor with a split gate to boot.

That 'flat' solution is a bit disappointing. Was happy the 2024 had it but now seeing this and looking at the screen shot from my build, its now obvious this is some form of cushion or something. Hmmm

When you say cushion how do you mean? It’s tray in the load space that raises the boot floor and the seat base now flips forward as per the 110. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue
