lnsurance
last years insurance on my D250 Commercial was £300

This week l have been testing the market (my insurance isn't due until later in the year) and getting some scary quotes ranging from £1,300 to £2,500. Nothing has changed, in fact l've got another years NCB.

Over on another forum people are complaining about high renewal quotes for Lotus cars and on the Range Rover section some can't get quotes at all.

Has anyone renewed their insurance recently and how much did you pay? Particularly on a Commercial Defender

Insurance is so subjective that its hard to compare. I pay £1300 for a D250 110 SE with extras valued at £76k as a 56 year old professional person, doing 18,000 miles a year with 25% business use for a car parked on the road in a village outside Bath, with my wife and 23 year old daughter included.

The insurance for my 17 year old daughter on a 2008 D3 auto is £1200 with the whole family included with 16,000 miles per year.

My 23 year old daughter, NHS nurse, with mum and I on a 2018 Discovery Sport is £1800 for 18,000 miles. Apparently, nurses are high risk! Confused

My wife T-Cross with the whole family on is £359 for 12,000 miles.

All paid for by muggins. Rolling Eyes

Not sure if that helps, but that's as it is until November. Eiger Grey MY23 D250 SE with bits. Known as Noddy.

Had much the same experience. The company I was with last year pulled out of newer Land Rovers altogether and declined renewal. Took the rounds and found that quite a few others had implemented similar policies, and those who had not quoted anything from £1200 to £2600 for a 2021 base spec Defender 110. Bottom line my insurance cost doubled from last year. It seems like model and location does not matter very much, it’s now Range Rover prices all around.

Mine went from £500 to around £700 this year. Base spec 110, 25k miles per year, low risk postcode etc.

It’s just a legalised scam, no option but to find the best deal you can and pay up.

£550 to £670 on the BMW X545E - not surprised as the £550 in the first year was really low in comparison to the market. All >£700 - Business cover / circa 10k
£340 to £370 on the VW California - SDP / 8k
Volvo due very soon. Circa £250 to £300 - SDP / Circa 10k

When I ordered my 90 X-dyn in May, I was getting quotes of £800. its now over £1100. Before ordering I was looking at a new RRS but that was £1400. its now £2300.

When I got my Velar in Dec 2021, I paid just under £400. Last December it went up to £650 and currently via comparison sites, £1200. It's ridiculous.

I have a ceiling so if it continues I may cancel the order. Sad really. Oh - 51yo, full no claims, no penalties

could this be why insurance is always going up ?
........ because drivers are driving WITHOUT any consideration for other road users !!!

I think it's more the thefts of Land Rovers, it's at epidemic levels particularly in London.

From the feedback I got from insurers when sorting my current RR some were quite open (when declining to quote!) in that it is thefts but also parts supply issues. if someone hits you then you generally get a hire car whilst waiting for repairs. The internal charges for hire cars between insurance companies is insane. 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE
RR MY23 HSE PHEV
D5 MY19 HSE - Now Sold
D4 MY16 HSE Luxury - Now Sold
D4 MY12 HSE - Gone
D3 MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten

Looks like both drivers completely lost it, fully prepared to risk damaging their vehicles to make a point.

That Defender is an "Urban" modified one and not cheap, hopefully the Police will prosecute based on the dashcam footage
