OEM switches with Rimmer seat heating kit
Hello again,

I know there’s a lot of info available generally but specifically would like to know if I can use OEM dash switches with Rimmer seat heating kit (ie can I cut off the aftermarket switches?). I know the OEM switches aren’t dual stage, so how would the wiring work. Many thanks, Matt.

Which OE switches are you asking about? Early or post 2002??

I found some two level stage (high / low) which are similar to the OE on my 1999 build on eBay. If you use a SPST (on /off) you’ll only have one setting with an early style switch.

Good luck

Hi there, thanks for the reply.

It's the same switch as used on the Freelander 1, Discovery 2 and Defender TD5. They are on / off only I believe?

A bit of an update and big bonus though, the seats fitted are Mazda RX8 leather bucket style and the drivers side has electric adjustment and both are heated with elements and connectors fitted (but not wired up). I'm discussing on another forum actually and it seems i can fuse each seat with 10 amps and fit 20 or 40 amp relay, so just as well go 40 amp and try to find a timed one. That's my next bit of research, unless anyone can help first?

Cheers, Matt.
