It’s not on a 1998 300Tdi CSW.

Any ideas?

Looks like a rocker switch, maybe spot lights that the previous owner had or rear work light.

Cant image that it would be a home made immobiliser in that position.

You don't want to pull the wiring just to find that it has been cut off, because you might want to use it for your own needs.

Sorry, not much help as without tracing the end of the wiring, it could be anything.

Thanks. I looks like a factory fitted switch?

It’s definitely a factory “location” - a cut-out in this panel exists in Tdi era vehicles, but usually comes with a blanking plate.

I was interested because I was wondering “why” recently: why put a switch location here?

I used it once, years ago, when I installed spots for the first time but have since changed the switch location and re-instated the blanking plug.

And edited to say that it looks very much like the factory switch, especially with the loom ‘multiplug’. Edit again, sorry. The two vehicles I’ve seen this on are a 94 Tdi 300 and a 98 300 Donald
