There is something cool about the old railway lines, either exploring them or even seeing the remains of them on a map and trying to retrace where they went or just seeing the odd features whilst out and about like the remains of bridges or siding.

This was the line that ran from the main land over to Hayling Island that replaced a ferry, which in turn was replaced by the bridge when the horseless carriage took over

Near me is the Downs Link that goes down the Shoreham that has numerous features, even a station and shed which is now a super cool private house but they have maintained so much to keep it as it was.

And then we have the proverbial ‘End of the Line’ station at Brookwood Cemetery which was constructed to take the dead out of London. The person would be transported by train with the family as passengers. That’s a hard line to retrace as it’s all houses now across the landscape.

Lucky man, that will be a great talk.
