Brave words indeed! In theory neither can the classic Defender, which also doesn't have keyless entry. I would suggest that anything you can do to make someone else's vehicle easier to steal that yours was worth doing in this day and age. |

In a recent What Car? Security test Land Rover got a gold star VG+ for their latest system in the Defender that uses not a single frequency for the remote security but ultra wide rolling frequency spectrum technology apparrantly that makes it extremely difficult for frequency/ signal grabbers to grab the signal as it isn’t transmitted on a single frequency each time you press the button Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

After the spanking the LR had with the RR keyless entry system, I imagine (hope!) they've updated it considerably for the Defender!!

You don't hear of many new Defender being stolen, in fact l've never seen one on Landywatch and only one reported stolen on another forum.
So they must be fairly secure. At the other end of the scale the Discovery Sport is being stolen at the rate of several every day in some areas. |

I deliberately avoided keyless entry when I bought mine and I still use the Disklok. Anything to discourage the scallywags.

I find that my shotgun works a lot better than a Disk lock, and then I leave any remains for my Doberman to eat. seems to be working quite well, as I have had to start buying dog food....
Didnt work so well on my Range Rover Sport |

Yes the standard Disc Lock has a weakness and you need to weld a steel bar across the back of it.
But any security is only a deterrent, if the thieves really want your vehicle they'll take it. You just have to hope it will make them move on to another vehicle instead of yours. |

I have to leave mine on the road in a London suburb. I park near a busy pub as a passive deterrent during drinking hours, and I try to keep the interior completely clean of any goodies to avoid break-ins, and I have the JLR tracker subscription and a couple of hidden airtags. It's also green and dirty, which is probably more of a deterrent than you might think.
On the plus side, I don't park near my house lower risk no risk of cloning the key. And if I stay somewhere that this could be a risk I use an effective farraday pouch. I didn't know our keys are now more advanced in terms of multi-frequency. But I'm not expert enough to know if that's truly effective or just a bit of marketing. I'm not convinced by the wheel locks for more sophisticated vehicles like ours. I'm fairly sure, if someone is truly committed and capable enough to break into the vehicle and start it, they'll likely be able to work their way around a £100 steering wheel lock. The ghost2 thing does seem like a good idea. It's a shame it can't be over-ridden remotely for cold winter warm-ups, yet. And I would be a little worried about messing around with already dubious electronics. |

Ghost 2 on the BMW. That was a must. It has the gearbox lock option because of the hybrid.

That way you can use the remote heating function. I had my guy come back and re-fit once Autowatch themselves told me I should have been given the option at installation. Works a dream👍🏻 D300 HSE 110 |
