I think the Defender is closer to a D4 than D5. Either way, its super comfy. Eiger Grey MY23 D250 SE with bits. Known as Noddy.

I'm in a 23 plate loaner at the moment, only done about 200 miles in it so far I hit a local speed bump at my usual speed with an almighty thump (i don't normally slowdown for it in the RR or previous discos) I hadn't realised it was on coils until then and double checking when i got out.

You definitely can't throw it around corners as much as Air Suspension but for a Defender coils seem perfectly acceptable as long as you know you've got them! 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE
RR MY23 HSE PHEV
D5 MY19 HSE - Now Sold
D4 MY16 HSE Luxury - Now Sold
D4 MY12 HSE - Gone
D3 MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten

I'm in the reject it camp.

it rides better on air.

and you lose all the extras air ride gives you

tows better

you can lower it for car park access and getting old folk in and out ...

and it will affect future resale if its on coils

I disagree that the air suspension "tows better"

l've towed with Defender on coil springs and air suspension, and they are both are extremely good in this capacity. Also the coil suspension seems to take around 1,000 miles to bed in, before that it's fairly harsh.

Of course the residual value will be a bit more for air springs but as it costs more, it should be really.
Further down the line l predict the coil spring version will be more desirable as there's less to go wrong.
