Thanks everyone for the comments, certainly plenty to think about
 . We have listed the vw for sale and will see what happens. We mainly holiday up in Scotland and usually have a base and tour about from there hence the decision that a caravan would be the way to go.
We have said that when the van sells we will look for a caravan around £10k a.nd see how we go, that way we can decide what we like and don't like and if we decide to get another later on we will have a lot better idea of what works for us. In the meantime, if anyone wants an extremely well spec'd 4x4 transporter camper give me a shout  2000 90 TD5,galv chassis, d2 axles ,Bas remap , alisport intercooler , d2 transfer box , side windows-more to come-much more!! *GONE*

I've had a 2013 swift conqueror 530 for about 4 years never regretted buying it, has proper central heating and anti sway (bit like ABS) it is quite heavy but the 90 copes with it happily although I do drive it steadily. DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

Got somebody coming to view my campervan tomorrow so may be in the market for a caravan sooner than I thought. Better get my tow electrics fitted
. Been looking at swift and coachman 4 berth caravans and have seen a couple of suitable ones so fingers crossed for this weekend 2000 90 TD5,galv chassis, d2 axles ,Bas remap , alisport intercooler , d2 transfer box , side windows-more to come-much more!! *GONE*

Good luck,
If your buying anything out of warranty and with a plywood floor check it very carefully from underneath, also make sure everything works properly, caravan fridges, cookers and heating systems are considerably more expensive than domestic ones. A motor mover is a very big advantage and if it does not come with accessories they do add up. Dealers will often remove accessories and then sell you new ones including motor movers. Check the side walls and dates on tyres, they last considerably less time than on cars and should be higher load rated, and some insurers wont cover you with tyres over 5 years old. Whatever we end up getting will no doubt be out of warranty. Good advice though, thanks. Been looking at 4 berth swifts and coachmans varying from about 2011 to 2016. Got to sell my camper first and depends what I get for that

Well, bit of a change of plans
Mentioned to my mate that we were looking for a caravan and he mentioned that his father was selling his. It is a 2006 Bessacarr Cameo 645, its a huge twin axle 4 berth. He is packing up caravanning so it comes with 2 awnings, all tanks/gas bottles/wheel locks etc. Even pots pans and cutlery. Was planning to sell the campervan and get a newer caravan but this was at a price I can afford without selling the Campervan The campervan will stay up for sale but now I don't have to take the first offer I get and am in no rush to sell it (can even use the camper to tow the caravan if I wanted) So I am now the owner of a very tidy (but a bit green) 2006 Bessacarr cameo 645 caravan Let the fun begin  2000 90 TD5,galv chassis, d2 axles ,Bas remap , alisport intercooler , d2 transfer box , side windows-more to come-much more!! *GONE*

We basically use the T5 'dayvan' as tow bus, etc......

That's good to know. There is only me, the wife and our 6 year old so 2 double beds will be fine. The rear is a fixed double so little one will probably have that.
We plan to use it at the end of may up in scotland so if we still have the transporter we may tow with that but I have the 110 if it sells before Anyone have tips on what's best to get the green crap off without damaging the body? Had the long weekend spent cleaning and fettling the caravan.
Looks much better now. Need to get motor mover working and a couple of other jobs then we are good to go to scotland in a few weeks. Also need to get towbar 13pin electrics rigged up on the 110 incase the van sells
