Drove home from work tonight, about half an hour with lights heater rear heated screen wipers radio on, all fine and dandy, about two hours later, go out again lights etc on about ten seconds onto trip and my battery light comes on, so I turned radio heater rear heated screen and lights to side lights, bat light stayed on got to destination had a cuppa went out and checked alternator belt which was fine and taught, went round the block and it's off now? What's that all about?

Alternator bushes sticking possibily ? What model defender is it, has it been muddy under the bonnet that could have worked its way into the alternator workings ?

It's the 2.4 90 57 plate 58 thousand on the clock, it's not massively really, it was only driven in the rain yesterday? Cheers

Mine did this on holiday in Devon this year. About 8k on the clock. Came on out of the blue, went about an hour later, never to return. D300 HSE 110

put the heated screen on , see if it does it again

I've been to a play day and driven about 50miles home with the light on worrying about the battery going flat but yet switched it off and went to start it again the light went off it's strange because it was still charging ???? 2015 2.2 tdci hardtop xs
3.2 conversion DONE 238bhp and 707nm torque and thats just the start ;-P hybrid turbo in build -done ready to fit ashcroft atb in transfer box 6 speed auto in build |
