Second row door - unlocking issues
Hi

This morning the RH second row door on my 08 Puma wouldn’t open, or rather wouldn’t unlock. Nor could I push down the tab from the inside to unlock it.

I’ve just managed to remove the door card from the inside to take a look. At first I thought the central locking actuator might have given up or seized, but having disconnected this from the linkages, the problem remained.

The issue seems to be with the latch itself - the lever that locks and unlocks it is meeting too much resistance inside the latch itself for the central locking or pushing/pulling on the door locking tab to overcome. However, if I push relatively hard on the lever itself with a bit of jiggling on the latch I can just about unlock the door, and once that’s done then it seems to loosen up a bit, i.e. the locking tab and the CL will operate the lock fine.

However, when I shut the door, the problem recurs. It won’t unlock.

Anyone experienced anything similar? Soak the latch in 3in1 oil? Or time to buy a new latch?

Many thanks

It’s common, unfortunately. Plenty of WD40 down the internal locking latch (the one you press down by hand)
Leave it soak in and then you should unlock/lock it a few times. It should go back to normal again. 2008 2.4 110 Utility XS.

Thanks I used your 2nd Row Doors fix.
I was going to take the doors apart.
It took a good few squirts but eventually the locks started working.
