Could anyone tell me what this hole is in the steering column shroud?

No it’s a brand new genuine shroud. The last couple of years of manufacture have a steering angle sensor and use this shroud.

That does make sense as I have a wondering microphone but can’t see how it mounted. Any idea where I can get this grommet or know a part number?

The later shroud for steering angle sensor is a different shape to those.
