Thanks,
Its an ARB frontal protection bar made here in Australia. Some like it, some don't, but it is beautifully made, fits nicely and will protect the front end in the unfortunate instance where I might be involved in an animal strike.

The ARB bars are quality, though hellishly expensive in the UK!
Nice truck Thumbs Up

Other items fitted to my Defender include an Outback draw sysyem, Piranha dual battery controller, UHF radio, Engle fridge with a mount I made which takes the place of the small rear seat, Warn 9.5 XP winch and IPF driving lights a Scangauge II and Safari raised air intake. Tyres and suspension are still standard as nothing has stopped the Defender yet (traction control helps). I purchased a sat phone today for outback touring as a back up.

I have 45,000km on the odometer and have had no major dramas with only the clutch being replaced and the output seal on the transfer case being replaced under warranty (like all of that period).

Thanks BPMAN.
A work in progress. The fact that I have not had to spend one dollar on repairs apart from general servicing has let me put some of thess items on the Defender.

Regarding number plates, every state in Australia is a little different. In Victoria where I live, the basic standard plate is 3 letters followed by 3 numbers. There are then special order plates like mine which can have combimations of letters, numbers or both up to six letters/numbers complete with different colour backgrounds including the green which I have but also include blues, orange, purple and even hot pink (probably a colour that should not be seen on a Defender!). Other special order plates are in a European stlye which are better suited to imported vehicles and other as theme based plates such as for our Australian Football League (non round ball) and other special events. Special order plates cost extra and generally you own the rites to the plate unless you sell it or give it up. I believe in other states such as Western Australia, some 3000km away you can have even larger combinations of personalised plates.

interesting how different countries manage vehicle license plates.

when i lived in Switzerland, you were allowed to move number plates from one car to another, the insurance was attached to the number plate and belonged to the car(s) not the driver(s). so once you had your car(s) registered with the number plate anyone (with your permission) could drive it.

Obviously if you had a fiat 500 and an Lambo, the insurance would be for the most expensive car Thumbs Up
