United Kingdom 2007 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 DCPU Stornoway Grey
255/85 is a great size, especially for a 110 or 130, unless you want to be able to use tyre chains (not enough clearance). The choice of tyres is incredibly limited though, and I can't think of any ATs in this size and only two MTs, namely the Toyo O/C mentioned above and the BFG KM3 (which seem to have rocketed in price since I bought mine).

Yes, they are taller that a 235/85, the math says by 17mm (which is less than a KM3's tread depth).

United Kingdom 2014 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 SW Keswick Green
Here's the thread that nearly convinced me to get them
https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic81066.html
plenty of info and pictures on there.

Tbh, if I hadn't found the 18's that I did (some twisted take offs at a good price), then I'd have gone for the 255/85. The lack of an AT pattern is a shame, but either the toyos or BFGs would have been fine for my limited uses. I don't do a huge amount of mileage, so I'd have been ok with the looks vs noise trade off.

If you type in om606 110 in the search, my 110 comes up. It shows what 255 85 16 looks like. I'll see if I can get some updated photos on here for reference.

I've found the TOYO M/T which look nice, they also do them in a 265/75/16, struggling to find stock in the 255/85 size. I've also found some Davanti Terratoura in 265/75. Any real world experiences with them? They get great reviews but don't look amazingly aggressive, maybe I'm being vain but I'd like them to look great too Laughing

I have the same issue coming up, I've had three sets of Cooper STT in 265/75 16 on the Puma 90. When they are new they bite very well but then quickly degrade off road. When half worn they are extremely noisy on the road, so I want to run an AT tyre, I no longer need MT. I am also shocked at how little choice there is. What do you think of Radar Renegade A/T AT5 265/75 R16? I don't know the tyre, otherwise BFG AT, the classic.

I've just been looking at the Radar Renegade AT5 funnily enough, as it seems very good value. Looking at the given performance of the BFG AT (wet/dry weather road performance, off road, noise, wear, etc) it does pretty much trump the other tyres out there. It's whether I can justify the cost...£122 a tyre for the Radar or £202 for the BFG's. I've been convinced by a couple of different people who prepare off road trucks to stick with the 235/85 for off road performance (the 265's do look better!), so at least I know what size I'm going for now. I need 5 tyres as want them all the same, so £1010 for BFG, against £610 for the Radar's. Still can't make my mind up Laughing
