I don’t know If it is just psychological but when I change oil I feel the engine runs smoother when cold and at start up is It’s smooth like butter melting on a hot tattie scone.
The six in line is hot

I usually change it every 6k miles but had no time and I have done 10l miles in 4 months, 95% motorway, to the point the Ad Blue is down 500 miles since day 1.

The oil and filter in my D250 was changed at 5,10 and 15,000 miles. Then it was due the 2-year service so it was changed again at 17,000 !

Anyhow l think l will in the future change it annually which will be approximately 8,000 miles. l suppose the question as to whether this makes the engine last any longer will be answered not by me but by the fourth owner of my Defender in around 15 years time.

They won't know me, but they'll subconsciously thank me.
