Thanks that's great, out of stock though.
Anyone without side steps, how do you get in? My current method is to hold on to the windscreen frame and pull myself up that way. |

I've been going to LRworkshop.com whenever I need to find something. Put your specific vehicle in and then it gives you the options. If you don't like what they have to offer, then just search the part number and it can come up with more aftermarket options.

l've ordered the cheap £200 ones from Ebay so will report on what they are like once l've fitted them.
They arrived yesterday and certainly look okay, brackets are cast aluminium and the finish on the aluminium side steps looks good. The steps have a rubber top which looks good quality. l will see how they fit/look on the Defender. It's a lot cheaper than the £1,000 Land Rover is asking. On my old Defender the genuine side steps were £650 By chance looking online found the company who actually made them, and bought a pair for £250. Also with these side steps you don't have to pull the plastic trim off to fit them. |

could you post the link to these? I also want to fit steps to aid entry. ( mines a 90 commercial) Fitted photos would be great Clemmo  Make today a little better than yesterday but not so good as tomorrow....

When I bought the genuine ones for my first 90 back in 2021 they were about £950 fitted, now they are almost £1200 fitted

As soon as l get a chance to fit these £200 side steps l will post photos, and my experience fitting them.

I fitted the side steps this afternoon.
lt wasn't straightforward, but it is do-able. First of all, it's a swine to cut the plastic underneath so you can fit the brackets (l chose not to rip the sill panels off, as it also means removing the front mud flaps and lower wing trim) There's two layers of plastic, the hard outer one and another one underneath. Cutting the holes out took me nearly two hours. (with the vehicle on ramps which raised the side about ten inches) Once fitted, the side steps were not straight. There was a difference of over 1cm height at the front. I had to put washers under the front brackets on both sides to level them out. The supplied bolts aren't really long enough, unless you think five turns of the bolt is enough on the thread. lt's probably okay but the ones with the washers underneath were only four turns, so l found some longer ones. The kit comes with bolts to fit to the sides of the mounting brackets in the sills, but for that you'd need to remove the sill covers etc. I didn't bother, they are plenty strong enough with the large bolts unless you plan to use the side steps as rock sliders. Once fitted and aligned they make getting into the vehicle so much easier and they look okay as well. Yes they're fine.
Side steps get a hammering from the elements because of where they are, and they seem to last around three years. However these are aluminium so at least they shouldn't rust. l've looked at the genuine ones which are £900 (excluding fitting) and there's not a lot of difference. They are better, but they're only side steps and these do the job fine. Also my Defender is a Commercial Vehicle that l use for work, so the aesthetics are not so important, it just needs to do the job. |

have you checked that the side steps don't get in the way of the jacking points (arrows on your photos.)
I ask as with a Freelander 2 ........ you have to remove the bar/step, if you use the scissor jack supplied.  |
