converting Puma seats to premium... Exmoor only?
Hi,

The foam on my front drivers seat is starting to deform and I want to sort it sooner rather than later.

Clearly the sensible option is just to buy a new foam back, and then it's all fixed in a couple of hours..... but.....

I drove my mate's 90 at the weekend, and he has the premium seats fitted, and they were very comfortable. So the idea of an upgrade has been born...

I see that conversion kits are available to convert the puma seats to premium. I'd be interested to know any personal experience of doing this conversion if anyone on here has done it?

Now OEM Developments appear to no longer exist, is the only option here Exmoor trim?

I'll post a wanted advert up on the off chance that someone wants to sell their premium seats....

Thanks

Jon

Sorry for hijacking this thread, but I own a 2002 Td5 110 and been reading about front seat options. With the Puma being pretty much the same body, is it correct that puma seats can be swapped into earlier models without any changes (same 4 bolts)? So all you do is get a set of seats and you are good to go?

The rear seats (110) seems to attract more discussion. I take it you cannot easily swap the 60-40 seats of the earlier 110s to the Puma seats, which I presume are 3 individual seats.

I will be following this thread with interest. Thanks yall for sharing your knowledge.

To the best of my knowledge (since I haven't actually done it) you are correct. The "receiver" for the seat belt is attached to the seat, but as far as I know is also the same on a TD5 and TDCi. The Puma seats are generally considered to be significantly more comfortable than the TD5.

Assuming that you means the second row seats, Puma rears are 60/40 split but use a completely different mounting system to the TD5, and it is this which makes retrofitting them into a TD5 tricky. At least one, possibly both, of the chassis cross-members to which they attach are different. There are threads on this forum showing how the conversion can be done.

The Puma second-row seats are not great for comfort (better than TD5 though) but have the huge advantage of having head-restraints. It still amazes me that it took so long for LR to realise that these are a good idea!

Puma seats fit everything back to 85 and no seat belts arent attached to the seats in any way, the Puma centre row seats can be fitted with the retrofit kit from YRM

You are of course absolutely right, they're not. I don't know why I momentarily thought they were! Brain fart or senior moment I suppose Sad

Apologies for being (uncharacteristically, I hope) misleading.

Hi all,

An update on this.

Thanks to another forum member, I picked up some new genuine premium leather seat covers, along with new foam, heater pads and the various trim strips, pins etc.

Before I start, I don't suppose anyone has the set of instructions for exmoor's (or OEM development's) premium upgrade kits?

I'm fine with the notion of a like for like retrim of the puma seats (and there's plenty of YouTube videos of these), I just want to make sure there's nothing extra I need to allow for with the premium conversion.

Tbh, I'm just procrastinating, and should just get on with it.... I'll take some pics on the way through.

Cheers all

Jon

I have done the conversion some years ago, nothing too bad although the seat backs were very tight to get and and required a lot of persuading to get the front and back clipped together on the long main fastening.
