Exposed rear recovery eyes !!!
Hum - thought I would go down the route of getting a second screw tow hook.
Didn’t want to go pull the rear bumper off yet
Thought having the 2 tow eyes screwed in would be OK
Spent some time messing around getting the both eyes screwed in tight but getting tight and level at the same time
All done - quite pleased with my work - looked good.
Went to back the car back in to the garage - rear parking sensor goes crazy !!!

The screw in tow eyes interfere with the park sensor line of sight - keeps thinking something is in the way

Looks like it’s back tot the drawing board

My end game is to have the 2 recovery eyes in yes for recovery but also I want to be able to mount something between the two that I can then fix/ lean my dog ramp on to
This will put the ramp a little lower and stop it from rubbing on the bumper

Has anyone else had this park sensor issue with either the screw in eye or the fixed sort?

I have a set of 'recovery eyes' on my vehicle. Bought the extra eye from a member of this forum.

Most importantly, in this orientation, I don't have any problems with the rear parting sensors.

Ah - see worth owning up to my mistakes !!
Hadn’t thought about that - yes I’ve got mine at 90 degrees to that (flat)
That a job for the morning - I’ll get another quarter turn on them and see

Done - rotated through 90 degrees - no parking sensor issues now.
Now that’s sorted I’ll look at making a temporary tube or similar to go through the tow eyes - the dg ramp can then go on that
Once the dog is in the ramp and tube can go in/across the rear foot well

How do you stop people from unscrewing and walking off with them? Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

You do realise these are basically regular eye bolts and are designed for an 'in line load' with a tolerance of 5° from centre line.

This is just FYI and is considered best practice Thumbs Up
If you need to go past 5° the useable load will drop as follows:
5° to 15° reduce by 20%
15° to 30° reduce by 35%
30° to 45° reduce by 70%
over 46° do not use.

So they are suited for on road recovery following a breakdown or accident. Not Off Road recovery where loads and angles will go way past the design limitations of a regular eye bolt. 130's have feeling's as well you know Smile

Agree yes I would like to get the ‘recovery eyes’ and the additional reversing lights - both available from powerfuluk I believe - at what appears a reasonable price.
I’ve watched the fitting videos but I am not confident enough to do the install myself
As yet I have not been able to find anyone local who can do the install at a reasonable price.

Found a local company for the reverse lights but the wanted 3 hours labour @ £100 per hour and that was with providing the light for powerful !!!

Would be interested if anyone on hear knows someone who can fit for a more sensible sum - somewhere in the Cotswold/Gloucester area ????

fair enough, thats what i get for making assumtions and you I know what that means Embarassed

I fitted mine myself, it took a good 3 hours of basic spannering and some gritting of teath as I pulled some of the plastic bits free, but all in all it worked for me, just took my time on an afternoon with nothing else planned.

I spent 30 minutes on the reversing lights. I soldered my connections (you don't have to) pre mounting. My 10 year old son helped me, it was that easy.
You do need to have some tugging strength on the panels Whistle 22MY Defender 110 D300 S in Pangea Green and Contrast White Roof
