Strange one…
Has anyone come across a problem like this? 2.2 Puma 2012, it’s diesel & water that seems to pressurise & then spray everywhere!
So I thought it was the low pressure drain off hose. Ordered a new one & fitted it, week later same thing!
Went to a local garage ( in Pretoria) they said it must be a faulty hose & fitted another ( now £250.00 in hoses)
Visited a 3rd garage & the said the same at which point I said I’m not spending anymore money until I’m sure so they then said it was the lower hose part noLR031348.
Basically they said it was the joint leaking so I cable tied it & wrapped it to confirm this ( see photo)
Still got the diesel / water spray!
The truck runs perfectly & the only reason I’ve removed the top engine cover is to be certain where the leak is coming from.
As we are just about to do the skeleton coast section ( Namibia) & we have wi-fi thought I’d ask as it’s driving me nuts!!!

Was the downstream plastic manifold “T” fitting replaced?

Water in the diesel, ouch!

Downstream T junction? It’s running too well for there to be water in the diesel but there’s water droplets & diesel sprayed under the bonnet!

The fuel lines above look a bit damp.

Is the plastic tee fitting leaking?

That’s the fuel drain off pipe that’s been replaced twice ( part number LR029948LR) If it is that what would cause it to go twice? The truck runs too well for anything serious to be the cause that’s my thinking anyway.

Good morning,

maybe one injector gives too much pressure in the back drain system. You should be able to see that with a leak oil test i think?!

Cheers

Landhank I’m beginning to think along those lines. I’ve got the BAS OBD dongle & software so will see what the pressure is tomorrow. Does anyone know what a normal pressure should be?
The other thing is would the pressure limiting valve ( faulty) cause this ( I believe the 2.2 is located on the pump itself but the 2.4 is on the end of the rail)

Not sure if you can check the back pressure of the injectors with an obd tool.
The pressure in the rail will be up to 1600bar i think and the pressure behind the injectors is nearly nothing… if only „a bit“ of the high pressure finds it way through a faulty injector (and if this is technically possible?!) that will blow up the leak oil line for sure.

Hmmm things to think about. There’s no fault code & no lack of performance. If an injector we’re going down wouldn’t it affect performance & give a fault code?
