Malta 2012 Defender 90 Puma 2.2 CSW Santorini Black
Rear door lock
Family member had purchased a new rear door lock for his Puma. As I had some free time today, I offered him to replace, well should have been only a 10 minutes job, right? I was wrong...

So replacing the key barrel, and the lock on the door was straight forward, no issues there, but as I tried to close the door, the lock only clicked on the first step of the lock.

I tried and tried to adjust the striker, but I could not find a position where it could lock fully. I even removed the rubber seal, and strangely enough it still did not lock fully.. just on the 1st click.

Start to investigate, and low and behold, I noticed that on my 2012 Puma, the striker has 2 flat faces, one to allow the lock to move more inside the striker. I compared the locks new (manufactured 2014) and old (manufactured 2008), and the new lock has a metal plate that prevent it from moving more forward.

Below is side by side comparison of the striker difference. I have not checked part numbers. He was happy to let me grind a flat on his striker.

Hope this can help someone in the future.

The change occurred I think when the rear door handle was altered with the added counterweight and drilled handle to make the operation lighter.
