This is a Hardtop and is classed as a van for insurance purposes by some, but not all, insurers. It has non standard rear windows which aids all-round visibility. There are no seats in the back. Used as a commuter and holiday camper vehicle up until lockdown when commuting stopped and has never restarted. Since then it has had very limited use other than for holidays and collecting logs now and again. Low range gearing and diff lock both work.

This has been well cared truck over the years and any repairs have been made as required. The chassis is sound with Waxoyl underbody protection last applied a couple of years ago. The paintwork is good for its age but being a Defender, it has the odd scratch and scrape, the main being on the passenger side which was present when we bought the vehicle.

Overall, for an 11 year old motor, it is in pretty good condition. It has a full service history (Pentland LR initially then local Peebles garages) and the following work has been carried out recently

May 2020 - output shaft, clutch and hydraulic cylinder replaced
May 2021 - Engine 710 in South Queensferry carried out the following work
- Alive Tuning Stage 1 remap - Output now ~165 bhp.
- Demand Stainless Steel straight through exhaust pipe, rolled tip which looks, and sounds, very nice (DPF is still intact.)
- Bilstein B6 suspension all round.
- Bilstein Steering Damper.
- Genuine Land Rover heavy duty front and rear springs.
- Polybushes all round.
These have enhanced the handling and overall driveability of the truck. As well as the work above, the sump and oil pump were replaced during the full service which was done at the same time.

Other than the standard gear the following is also fitted or has replaced the original supplied parts.
* Steel Wolf type Wheels - A little surface rust starting to develop but wheels can be replaced relatively cheaply.
* Wrangler MTR tyres all round, including the spare - I have had these fitted to all 4 Defenders I have owned to date.
* Bonnet Chequer Plate.
* Aluminium bulkhead Mounts.
* Brand new galvanised steel bumper.
* Galvanised side step/sliders.

This has hand window winders and no air con, which has been just fine for us. There are 2 keys and fobs however, there is no central locking, it is a good old key to lock/unlock the doors. Fob is for the alarm/immobiliser.

This has been a great truck for the past 5 years but unfortunately, just a little too small for our needs so we are going back to a 110 Commercial, if I can find a good un.

More photos available or can be taken by request.

Thanks for looking

A fair number of views but no comments so far. Would appreciate any thoughts on the asking price or any other aspect of the listing. There seems to be a lot of Defenders on the market and prices vary considerably.

Don't recognise the rear windows as a factory fitment?

From what we were told camelman, the rear windows were specced by the first owner, and it has always had them.

Rear windows are definitely not factory but may have been dealer fit (although I doubt from new)
Good mileage but the non standard windows, chequer plate on the bonnet and poverty spec will put a lot of private buyers off, it’s too dear to use as an ‘off roader’, too low spec as a ‘poser’, rear windows will put off someone wanting a ‘van’, it needs to find the right buyer.
Perhaps advertise further afield ?
Meanwhile an insulting £15k bid here Mr. Green

I’d align with the others, it’s the rear windows that put me off. Might be worth just costing up a set of standard panels, or even better scouring the second hand markets for a set the same colour as yours. Other than that, it’s a great base to work from.

Cheers for the honest comments. It was bought because of the rear windows but appreciate they are not everyone's cup o tea. Thought it was a keeper when I bought it but that was before the dug came along and it is all a bit of a squeeze for camping trips. No hurry to sell. Will get it through its MOT in next month and re-evaluate the strategy after that. Never really thought about replacing the side panels Co1, but worth a look.

Cheers for the offer Go Beyond. Think I can hold off for now.... Very Happy
