Chassis vin number Corrosion
Hi all
Looking for help on how best to deal with some corrosion to the chassis vin number without destroying the vin number on a 2015my chassis.
The Vin appears to be laser etched into the paint opposed to stamped into the chassis, then was covered with a clear plastic film from the factory.
Has anyone tried to deal with corrosion in this area on a chassis with a laser etched vin number.

Many thanks

I thought it is dot matrix... but in any case, I would not use any aggressive abrasives or similar.
I use a product from Hg for light rusting, it is a rust remover, although could be a bit slow, I rate it as very good product and I do not see that it attacks steel.. just dissolves rust.

I'd be more worried about getting that Sharpie pen scribble off
Seriously though, just a quick rubdown and throw some paint at it. I couldn't even see the chassis number on my 1994 until I replaced the basis and plucked up the courage to get stuck in with serious scrapers and abrasives. Luckily for me it revealed the faint truth that it was the correct chassis, but on vehicles that last as long as these do it isn't unusual for the chassis stamps to get a bit obscured.
