Good price! Another same age was for sale here for £13k.

Not a good time to sell end of season?  If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Yes I saw it at the show
I'm working up to a 6.5m Humber Destroyer with a 115+HP engine on it. Been quoted 8K for the RIB if i fit it out myself then would get an engine just out of warranty and a decent S/H trailer. I'm still looking into it all and new to RIBs but the 1 litre per mile fuel consumption/ trek down to Chichester Harbour with kids throwing up and £30 of fuel to get down their and back is making it all a bit pricey. I have just sold the yacht as it was was costing £80 every time we sailed it  so it may have to wait but I am aiming to get one eventually - kids to young for sailing, they just find it boring but they loved going out on the RIB at the show  Would love to go around Britain in one 
Anyone got any experience of RIBs you don't get much for your money and seem to be looking at 4K+ for a decent engine |

I haven't any experience with RIBs, nevertheless Zag for a comparable price I used to own one of these: http://www.richardhancock.com/seadoo-utopia-205.html Being somewhat dependable on tides especially in Poole you've only got a 12" draft and with young kids there's no danger of chewing them to pieces with the prop! You also get more for your money! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Looks nice Mal and slightly cheaper as you say, I don't know why RIBs are so expensive. My wife would probably go more for something like that - I like the 4x4 of the sea scenario though...
The real advantage as well as the draft is the wider window for using the boat - your lucky if you can get 10 good sails a year in a yacht but weather conditions are not so critical in a RIB. And you can do more in them, Isle of Wight easily in a day and back, pull up onto beaches, go up creeks that my yacht wouldn't go near a mile of, OK I have persuaded myself I will always prefer sailing but an Orange RIB looks like low maintenance fun to me Press and go. Something to save up for anyway...

Zag go on to the www.rib.net there are a few off the disco 3 and maybe from here I am working up to a 6.5 ocean pro been doing some research into ribs and it's seems that Humber is a good all round boat and speaking to people go for the biggest engine the rib will take

It's not as helpful as say this forum but I have made a few Humber owning contacts.
The OP Humber....wow nice, 1.5 internal width pretty handy also (Destroyer is 1.22!). Nice to have proper chines also Destroyer has just one. I decided against the OP as it's a lot heavier than the Destroyer and 1K min more in price . You can get away with a smaller engine on the 6.5 Destroyer 115HP but the OP as you say needs 150HP minimum 200 HP+ ideal as you say
I may even get the 6M Destroyer (£7750) with 90HP which is the most popular size. Saves going up to a bigger more expensive and heavier engine, the trailer also doesn't have to be so big.... Plan is to get the boat end of this year or before prices go up and fit it out and get the engine the following year. I'll let you know if I come across a nice OP but you can haggle them right down in price for a new one if you can fit it all out yourself, comes out better than some near new S/H prices |
