I agree with Ibexman. My local motor factors mix the paint themselves in aerosols. Their metallic paint water based but no issue as long as you have a hot air gun to force dry it before applying lacquer. One major benefit I've found over the stuff you get at Halfords is the quality of the spray nozzle. Proper fan spray rather than a useless cone pattern and you can turn the nozzle through 90 degrees to get a horizontal or vertical fan. Not quite like spraying with a proper gun but the next best thing.

I get a lot of Corroless pain from ArcEuroTrading. Not available in metallic though.
Alternatively there are now the relatively new 2k aerosols specifically those with Air Dry Converters. These are “2 pack paint aerosols” which have a ring pull on the bottom to mix the hardeners, but they don't use isocyanates so don't carry the no-DIY issues that have surrounded traditional 2-pack paints. Gaskets suggestion sounds a good idea a 2k paint is way better.
But definitely go to a paint supplier and get the colour code mixed up in a can. Avoid any of the off the shelf stuff rubbish paint and rubbish spray pattern/finish. I use Brighton Paints for all my stuff |

just reread my post.
To be clear Co1, I haven't used one of the fancy aerosols yet - I should have been more careful with my 'But a far better, more durable finish than normal autofactor paints' -comment. That's what the marketing says, but not from first hand experience. |

The problem with the 2K rattle cans is that it is a one time use.
A small air compressor (I use a 50liter one and I find it as more than enough) and a decent spray gun will be a lot cheaper if you like to paint the occasional part and want good quality material and finish. As long as you do not mix the hardner with the paint, the paint shelf life is very very long.
