Electrical Fault & Engine Check
Defender 110 XS, P400e, 2022, just over 3000miles: 3 days ago whilst driving back from work, got this warning below. I was about 200 meters from home so decided to drive on. Parked the car and next morning no fault. Today same thing happened but this time the car brought up more warnings such as brake assist, and engine management light - then just stopped at roundabout with no power. Rang LRAssist who told me it would be 90mins. So, about 20 mins in I decided to start car and voila - all warning lights gone. So, decided to drive home and cancel LRAssist. Planning to call dealer and arrange diagnosis tomorrow. (btw. was driving on petrol as EV showed 0miles left)

Anyone experienced similar?

Do you do mostly short trips? Warnings like this often crop up when the battery gets a bit low, usually fixed by a run of at least 30 minutes. Will be interested to hear what the dealer says.

I do a daily 20 mile roundtrip - mostly in EV mode.

Not being technical, I can only suspect that perhaps, in EV mode, it somehow failed to charge the 12V standard car battery - I presume all electrics run off that, still, as normal?

Swisslad - in addition to my 2020 D240 Defender I run a Mini EV and with regard to the 12v battery in that the battery management system will divert energy from the main HV battery to top up the 12v battery when it drops low, however if the motive battery is below about 15% (bear in mind the Mini’s HV battery is only 32kwH capacity) it will not divert charge to the 12v system in case you won’t have enough charge to drive. Could it be possible that you have run both the 12v and motive batteries down to such a level that there is no longer enough charge in the HV battery to allow recharging of the 12v? My previous Mini Countryman PHEV did the same as the Mini and it only had a 7.5kWh HV/motive battery. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

Got car back today. Dealer performed a BCCM software update (battery charge control module) and further replaced the battery itself as showing as defective. Also lubricated window to rectify rattle when slightly open.
