My RB5 Traverse turned up today!
When ordering it asks what format you want your GPS in.
I chose GPX…..any advice on what app is good for the GPX?

I use LocusMaps on Android. Very pleased with it. It has a great built map store where you can purchase maps of all kinds for not much money. Importing the gpx files is easy. If you store them online in a free Google Drive account they can be accessed from within the app.

And RB5 is awesome. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

+1 for locus maps on Android, used it for many years. I’ve now switched back to an iPad and use Gaia GPS which also works very well.

Bear110,

Did you get the GPX file emailed to you ?, I’ve asked twice, but not received anything yet. I didn’t see anything in the order process that asked me what I wanted. I’ll give it until later next week, then email them again,

Ashby Andy 👍

I think it took a week or so before they sent mine. In the meantime this one on Wikiloc is pretty much the RB5 route in its entirety Thumbs Up

Had a message from Vibraction to say there are a lot of the Road book passages closed due to fires and risks of fires, quite a few of the RB5 routes are closed.
The temperature and drought is increasing, I suppose this time of year it’s expected? Because my son is doing his GCSE’s school holidays is our only opportunity.

Facebook translation below

“This is the risk level in Catalonia. The entire Traverse road book is level 2. Except for some sectors at level 3 Access to 11 massages is closed: Montgrí, Cap de Creus, Albera, Gavarres, Montsec d'Ares, Montsec de Rubies, Baronnie de Rialp, Montserrat, Sant Llorenç del Munt et Ubach, Montsant and Montmell-Marmellar
Crossing RB 5: Banned to Alberta's Massive departure. Forbidden in Albania, Massif Sant Llorenc del Munt.
Andorre Collioure RB 2: Forbidden in Sadernes, Massif Sant Llorenc del Munt. Banned on Alberta's latest Massif.
Montsech to Guara RB 14: Outlawed from the Sierra de Rubies and Ares.
Collioure Barcelona and Barcelona Ebre RB 18/19 many massive are closed.
These prohibitions are (a priori) materialized on the ground.
The situation is evolving, so remember to look at this link from the Gencat.” 2016 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 TDV8

I’m well ahead of myself, I’m not going till next June, I’m just trying to get people interested, so the book is a good way of doing it, plus it gives me something to completely absorb, and look forward to for next year 👍

Slight change of plan because of a few routes closed due to fire risks

All packed and heading to Chamonix tomorrow for a couple of days, Barcelona for a few days and by then a plan of what we can do on the Pyrenees west to east

Have a great time bear100. Hopefully you’ll be able to do some of the RB5 tracks, but just driving through the Pyrenees on some of the smaller back routes will be lovely 👍

I had also got the Pyrenees in my sights for a trip in the future. I've looked at the offerings from some of the touring companies but it's not my thing. They have a full on agenda of driving tracks all day, every day. We want to do some tracks, some hikes, some sightseeing, some lazy days.

Previous posts mention Vibraction. What the hell is that?

Any recommendations for guide books for the area. Special places to visit, great tracks and hikes?

It will just be me and my wife so nothing too serious off road, we don't want to get stuck alone.

We will be mainly camping so site recommendations also welcome.

Vibraction are a French company that produce well-researched French language roadbooks for off-tarmac routes in Spain and other countries.

They have a website, if you view via Google Chrome it will auto-translate the content into English. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS
