110 Rear Prop Length
This is curiosity rather than anything else, would be good to hear if there is some logic or reason behind it.

I have two 1992 200tdi 110s. They both have LT77 gearbox and LT230 transfer box and a salisbury rear axle. The only difference I can see is that one has discs at the rear, the other has drums.

The prop on one is 1050mm long but on the other it is 1015 (fully closed). I was expecting them to be the same, especially when I smugly set about replacing the bust one with a spare that came with the other one only to find it would not fit.

Any thoughts as to why? I assumed that one had merely had a disc brake conversion but is it likely that it came from a different LR model instead?

That is very kind, thank you. I think a 300 is a different length anyway isn't it?

I have ordered a new ftc3245 to replace my broken one anyway. Just curious as to why it may be a different length.

Thanks Dinnu.

1045 will fit on the drum brake one but is too long to fit on the one with discs. I did try to fit one and even fully closed it was a good 10/15mm too long to clear the nut on the diff flange.

The one I removed was an FTC3245 which is 1015.

Odd.

That is indeed odd. I would have thought that all Salisburies would take the same prop shaft length for a given engine setup.
On a 200, gearbox mount brackets are slotted, but at most can move 10mm or so? Engine mounts are fixed though.
Curious where your difference in shaft length requirements are coming from. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing
