Interchangeable Instrument clusters parts
All,

Does anyone know how interchangeable the parts are on the speedo clusters for PUMAs with Freelander, Range Rover Sport / Discovery 4 of the same years

It seems the clusters, front screen, back panels are the same, does anyone know if they used the same needles, how interchangeable are parts?

Thanks

Mark

I was in the understanding that the instrument cluster was run by firmware/soiftware on the PCB's in the cluster, as such the clusters were unswapable, (a thread where somebody wanted to upgrade the puma rev counter with one from a freelander and the display in it's rev counter) that lead me to the assumption that individual instuments were also not swapable since they are driven by the firmware/sofware combo - willing to be corrected Zaid-M

The casings are the same, front and back, same part numbers, you are right that the guts are controlled by the computer, the dial sheets are the same, although they have the relevant light warning inserts for the relevant car, freelancer / RRS and Discovery, the push in plastic dial surrounds are the same too.

I bought a 2nd hand RRS dash cluster, the needles are the same and most of the guts are the same too, Looking at the scan gauge install / upgrade. If you get the RRS / Discovery, with the centre LCD, you don’t have to cut the extra holes...

Not interchangeable electrically. You cannot take a D3/RRS/Freelander 2 pack and put it in a Tdci.

It will physically fit, but the wiring is very different.

The overlay is different - different icons in different places and the speedo has a different Vmax Smile

The casings are the same, but the Freelander 2 pack has a different bezel (lens).

If you need to repair a Defender pack you can use the needles and stepper motors.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top
